Dear Students and Families,

Another busy week is already over! We finished our lesson and story about the San Francisco earthquake  of 1906. With the terrible earthquake and tsunami which took place in Japan this last week, our story and discussions helped us all to better understand what happened there. Our lesson focus for the past two weeks has been story sequence, synonyms, possessive nouns, and paragraph writing with topic sentences, supporting details, and conclusions.

Next week, we will read a nonfiction piece which is actually a journal of the author’s experiences and observations of her time in Antarctica. Our lesson focus for two weeks will be the target vocabulary, cause and effect, and regular verbs. We will also write a persuasive letter and finish our revolution memory book. Each student will do their final copy about the revolution on the computer in our computer lab. We will add illustrations to the paragraphs and bind them together in one book for our library.

Target Vocabulary: display, alert, weariness, fractured, standards, vision, huddle, graceful, stranded, and concluded

Our two Super Stars for this week are Zeina Ashraf Salama in 4A and Laila Osama Hanafi in 4B. Both girls had a great week and did wonderful work. Way to go, girls!!Spelling List-G4-U14
